About The Entry
FEATHERSENSE is a smart sportswear and digital training concept designed to make informed, safer badminton practice more accessible. It addresses a critical gap in recreational sport: players often struggle to recognise inefficient movement, uneven loading, and accumulating fatigue before these patterns affect their wellbeing and participation.
By integrating flexible sensing technology into sportswear and connecting it with a companion application, the project proposes a way to translate movement and muscle activity into understandable feedback. Motion insights, potential risk alerts, and targeted training guidance help players connect how they move with how their bodies respond. This approach supports more considered decisions about technique, intensity, and recovery.
Its central value is empowerment. For amateur players with limited access to individual coaching, FEATHERSENSE aims to bring greater visibility to physical signals that are otherwise difficult to interpret. For coaches, it offers a framework for more focused conversations and personalised instruction. Together, these functions seek to narrow the knowledge gap between professional training environments and everyday sporting practice.
The design integrates garment construction, sensor placement, and digital interaction around the demands of badminton. Body responsive forms and strategically positioned sensing areas connect the physical experience of playing with an interface that makes complex information approachable. The resulting experience is intended to support learning within familiar training routines.
Beyond performance improvement, FEATHERSENSE positions sustained participation as a meaningful measure of design value. By encouraging earlier awareness of potentially harmful movement patterns and more deliberate training habits, it explores how wearable technology can support long term confidence and physical wellbeing.
Ultimately, the project reimagines sportswear as an active interface between the body and informed action. Its contribution lies in making movement knowledge more accessible, helping people understand their limits, develop their abilities, and maintain a healthier relationship with sport throughout their lives, at their own pace.
