The Pedal Tone for a child, was choreographed by the Director of the GNO Ballet, Constantinos Rigos, as part of a dance triptych called 3 Rooms.
The choreography was about a dystopian, abandoned world that wanted to make the viewer think and question about existence, choices, adolescence, dreams and romance. The scenography included only a sign of an old forgotten advertisement with two words written on it, “Nothing” and “Eternity”. Towards the end, pieces of the world map that were lying on the dance floor, were risen while the dancers were strolling between them making a connection with the boundaries of the world that are constantly changing.
The lighting design’s intention was to create the atmosphere of an abandoned world and had a strong connection with the movement of the dancers and also with the dystopian scenic world. Under the advertisement sign four fluorescent strips where hanged that in times were flickering to make the scenic even more dystopical and create agony or isolation. Cyclorama had a crucial role too as the background of all happening in front of it. The shades of light and color were underlying the agony and the emptiness of humans. In a solo dance, a vertical white light travels along the cyclorama as an old radio transmitter signifying an urgent need for transmitting an s.o.s. signal. Side lighting was highlighting the dancer’s bodies in contrast with their black and white costumes. At the end, the world map pieces were risen in front of a cold white "sky" and two dancers were dancing non stop till fade out.
Lighting had a strong connection with the music composed by Giorgos Koumentakis. In moments, had strong, abrupt changes along with the tempo of the music while in others it was keeping an independent pace.
