The project is a demonstration area inside the unmanned aerial vehicle development base SOAR, Xi’an, playing a role of displaying the image of SOAR while also serving property selling functions. Close to the line 5 of Xi’an light rail transit, it enjoys favorable display conditions. The whole demonstration area occupies a plot area of 33,592m², with a floor area ratio of only 0.1 or so. By maximizing the scales of greening and pool, it is embraced by grass and trees, well integrating with natural landscapes around.

SOAR is China’s first sci-tech demonstration town with the core of unmanned system industry, characterized by civil-military integration and industry cluster, realizing the fusion of science, education, industry and finance. The architectural facades are made of gray-white rhombic aluminum panels as well as wood-grain aluminum panels, creating a distinctive cut form. The large French windows at the entrance blur the boundary between the interior and the outside. The thin glass ribs offer glass curtain wall structural support, attracting people to walk in.

To realize the property selling function required by the client whilst also responding the sci-tech achievements of local aircraft industry, this project starts with the blocks, lines and materials, adopts modern geometric techniques to cut the whole volume into a “flying wild goose”, and wraps it in rhombic aluminum panels that feature a sense of technology of American sci-fi movies. Complemented by wood-grain aluminum panels and large 8m-tall ultra-clear glass, the completed architectural appearance reveals a comfortable and friendly touch, producing a powerful and breathtaking visual effect.
