Wake up

This is a small-scale store of soft furnishings. Designed with the theme of "awakening", the project creates a comfortable ambience with the subtle harmony between soft and hard furnishings to render customers a fresh visiting and purchasing experience.
The store is divided into three sections: the reception area, the negotiation area and the office room, with soft partitions to alleviate spatial constraint. A fireplace is set on the left side of the reception area. The red dancing flames create an intuitive and harmonious visual expression and evoke associations of warmth and the cracking sound of firewood, instilling visitors with a trance-like serenity. Except for a few major products that are directly displayed in the negotiation area (product exhibition area), other products, based on their physical properties are folded, aligned and combined to be integrated as part of the store’s soft furnishings. Giving consideration to both display and decoration, such a design reduces commercial features and brings visitors a tranquil feeling of an idle stroll. The project also uses floor-to-ceiling windows to bring in soft natural light, replacing diffuse light as the main illumination of the office room. Meanwhile, the windows connect the interior space with the river view outside, which, combined with the fragrance of tea, offer customers a multi-sensory enjoyment and enable them to find inner peace.
Based on the pun of the Chinese pronunciation for "awakening", the designers expand the connotation of the project and inject into it a philosophical quality. The elaborately-arranged moving lines connect the the three areas, creating a gradual shift of styles from quiet and secluded to broad and open. With the transition of color schemes from gray to wood brown, the designs symbolize the awakening and germination of seeds and bring visitors a multi-layered sense of tranquility, demonstrating the traditional philosophical thinking of heaven-man unity (harmony between man and nature.
