Fucheng, Lukang, and Manka are three major historical cities in Taiwanese history. The project is a residence in the town of Lugang in Changhua City, Taiwan. The architects' unique design incorporates the distinctive local traditional architectural elements and oriental aesthetics into this project, allowing the modern architecture to embody the historical and cultural heritage of the area and recreate its historical splendor. The exterior of the building is dominated by white stone bricks and complemented by dark gray stone bricks. The majestic building stands in front of the open space of the urban campus, emphasizing its magnificent and spectacular look. Besides, the front facade of the building is framed with window grilles, a characteristic of traditional local architecture, to show the unique Oriental culture. On the other hand, greenery is planted on the balconies and roofs of each house, adding a fresh and pleasant atmosphere of nature to the building. The hexagonal shape of the columns is a clever twist on the image of the "Octagonal Building,” a historical building in Taiwan. The open design of the first floor of the building not only brings sunlight, air, and greenery into the room but also reduces the feeling of oppression caused by the volume. The designer has set a simple gray and white as the primary color scheme of the building’s exterior. is decorated with a simple gray and white color scheme, presenting a modern oriental aesthetic. In contrast to the simple pattern of the traditional translucent house, the designers have injected historical patterns such as "window grilles" and "octagonal buildings" to create layers and connotations in the building, creating a unique architectural style. For this project, greenery is planted on the balcony and roof of each floor to realize the concept of vertical greenery, which not only beautifies the urban streetscape but also improves the urban heat island effect. By absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen, vegetation can not only mitigate the greenhouse effect but also purify the air to realize the concept of environmental preservation.
