This Four Seasons project was a renovation of its primary public areas; lobby, bar, restaurant, and patio of the Austin, Texas-based 30+ year old hotel. The main objective was to deliver a complete transformation as the hotel finish was outdated, cavernous, and uninviting. Renovations come with their own sets of challenges. A huge challenge in the hotel lobby was to brighten the space while using the existing low ceiling conditions and reusing the existing downlight locations to avoid the ceiling repair cost. A combination of matching warm-dim LED recessed, linear, pads, and decorative fixtures were utilized as a solution. Lighting was purposefully planned to accentuate art and architectural elements such as undulating screens and fluted columns. Architectural lighting coves were added for general ambient lighting and to perceptually heighten the existing low ceiling conditions. Fully equipped with warm-dim technology LED sources this project fully complied with IECC 2015 while offering a seamless and adaptable ambiance between a daytime to evening scenes. This new technology came at a premium of initial capital investment, but greatly benefited the project by significantly.
