Nordic Vicarage

Informal. Airy. Intuitive.



Brief: To completely refurbish an old vicarage in the heart of town, turning it into a cosy and light hideaway for a family with teenagers.



In just 10 weeks Maren transformed what had been a very tired space. Working with a local building company and a highly skilled cabinetmaker, she created a modern and beautifully furnished home – all finished to an exceptional standard.



Maren designed and specified the large bespoke kitchen. It includes boiling/sparkling water taps, premium appliances, a dining area with table and chairs sourced from Denmark, and a handmade ebonised vintage cabinet as a striking focal point.



The entrance hall was brightened up with fresh white tiles in a classical arrangement, while wicker pendants were hung from the ceiling to create an informal vibe. Soft white paint throughout makes the most of the light to create a calming Nordic ambience.



Maren redesigned the parents’ bedroom, positioning an exclusive freestanding bathtub in front of a picture window and dividing the space with a soft linen curtain. In all bathrooms she used high quality composite panels from COSENTINO. The result is a calming space in which sleep comes easily.



The use of Perlite insulation, a form of expanded volcanic glass rarely used in the UK, enhances the house’s green credentials and underscores its contemporary character.
