Yan Luo Sports Park

Yan Luo Sports Park is located by Maozhou River in the north of Shenzhen. It is a multi-functional public site with sports activities, sports support, wetland purification and public entertainment. The architectural design used fair-faced concrete to preserve the original and rough atmosphere of the site. The lighting design aims to create a pleasant nighttime leisure and entertainment place, and to provide professional lighting support for public sports.

The most striking feature of the Yan Luo Sports Park is the corridor formed by the barrel vaults. The lighting design considers the architectural form and uses staggered rows of wall luminaires to light up the vaults and side walls in conjunction with the barrel vaults, creating a continuous, orderly visual effect. The lighting form echoes the original rough atmosphere of the fair-faced concrete. From a distance, the gallery is expressed in its entirety by light at night. The illuminated barrel vaults extend throughout the park, expressing a clear path. The upwards light is reflected through the vaults to the ground, providing functional lighting of a uniform and soft quality for visitors. In the proximity scale, the luminaires are mounted high and upward to ensure maximum visual comfort and avoid dazzling light. The functional spaces underneath the construction use adjustable angle track luminaires to adapt to multi-purpose use. The cross-arch area, where the two-way barrel vaults intersect, is used for showers and toilets. The lighting design uses custom disc lights to illuminate the space below through the reflection of the vaulted ceiling to obtain a uniform lighting effect all around. The lighting design of the sports field strictly follows the lighting standard, and a large number of simulations were carried out in the pre-design. Professional court lighting is provided to the public by using pole multiple floodlights.

The lighting design finds a balance between the formality of the construction and the experience of public use, satisfying both the order and expressiveness of the construction and the public's demand for a high-quality sports park. Since the completion of the park, it has become a popular recreational space for the public.
