Shake la Revu is part of a series of new constructions designed to recover and reactivate the border zone around Tijuana. Inspired by shared architectural experiences along the border of the two California’s, this apartment building has smooth curves and accents in raw materials such as clay and concrete, and lattices.
The ground floor’s distribution ensures unobstructed pedestrian routes, and it contains the commercial area and offers the advantage of being transformable as required. The store premises are positioned beneath this large space, which enjoys natural lighting and ventilation. The food court is strategically located to activate the rear of the development.
The next volume consists of two floors specially designed for short stays; the amenities are grouped together on a level that provides a connecting element that provides the base for the apartment block, which is separated into two different bodies. In the upper part there is an openly accessible terrace and restaurant. At the end, public programs provide the finishing touch to the project.
The structure’s concrete walls are specially modulated to create column-free apartments. The façade uses the structure as an axis to create a sinuous line of balconies, which means that almost all units have a terrace that opens up the residential program to the exterior. The interior design gives the building the youthful and natural feel found in its materials, colors, furniture, and green spaces.
With residences on the upper levels and short-stay rental units distributed on the building’s second floor, this project stands out both for its distinctive urban vision and because it provides users and investors permanent or temporary accommodation offering the essentials of daily life, in harmony with Tijuana, a city buzzing with energy and full of surprises.
