Yunji Pocket Park - YichangYunji Road Urban Renewal Project

The project located in the middle section of Yunji Road, Yichang City, it is an important open pocket garden for the Yunji Road Renewal Project.



The project has undertaken a comprehensive transformation of the Yichang Children's Park, located 60 meters from the Yunji Road interface, creating a new urban microclimate space. It provides surrounding residents with a green urban area that integrates ecology, low-carbon, rainwater management and dynamic living space, thus activating the urban vitality of the core area of Yichang.



The natural height difference of Yunji Road from Dongshan to the Yangtze River brings rich spatial changes and terrain differences to this 300-meter-long and 60-meter-wide green space. Dozens of large trees with chest circumferences exceeding 90 centimeters have grown here, whose branches and leaves provide a dense shade. They have experienced half a century of wind and rain, recording the joys and sorrows of this city，but have been blocked behind the park wall and isolated from urban life by layers of miscellaneous trees.



The park has formed four major spaces: The Goldenrain Tree Garden, The Terrace Garden, The Tree Theater, and The Sunlit Lawn. Each space is created around trees, with trees as the core, bringing sunlight back to the bottom of the trees and making tree shade a part of urban life. Ultimately, the park has become a unique and memorable green urban living-room. This green space has become the most attractive urban green living-room in the core area of Yichang and have set a positive demonstration for the transformation of other green parks in Yichang.



By prioritizing trees and green spaces in urban design, Yichang has created a beautiful and inviting environment for residents and visitors alike. The green spaces not only provide a place for people to relax and enjoy nature but also help to improve air quality and reduce the urban heat island effect. This approach has been so successful that it has become a model for other green space projects in Yichang.
