Before the renovation, the courtyard was similar to a Siheyuan, but on both sides of the courtyard were planted low irrigation irrigation to block the entrance. Starting with the entry porch, the design respects the way the low wall jumps and because of the height limitation of the original courtyard, the metal laminate is connected and stacked through split-level to form a layer of material and structure. In the back of the porch there is a grape trellis, which the owner has left to insist that in the summer the vines on the top of the door will produce green or deep purple grapes, which he will then pick and share with his guests in the courtyard.
