Chu Tian Natural Mansion, Wuhan

The project is located in Hongshan District, Wuhan City, adjacent to the Yangchun Lake Wetland Park, with advantaged lake scenery and rich ecological resources. It used the low-intervention design to respect the site, introduced the view and experience of space to the lake shore, and created an urban living place with natural, wild and artistic landscape. The string-shaped entrance, the winding stream and the corridor with scattered light and shadow enable every urbanite to enjoy the beauty of nature, wildness and vitality.



The 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP14), held in Wuhan, China form Nov. 5 to 13, 2022. The Nature Mansion is just a practice in response to the theme of the conference “Wetland Actions for People and Nature”. The design team hoped that people here can feel the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.



The project features wonderful lake views and abundant ecological resources. It implies the spirit of “Chu Culture”- one of the most important parts of the Chinese Culture, and integrates urbanites' pursuit of the nature and romance. It is both a magnificent poetic space, and a romantic hometown for living.



The project applied nature to endow architecture and human settlement with new ideas and practices, which was changed from traditional architectural development to spiritual development endowed with emotion and details. Sited along the shore of Yangchun Lake Wetland, it integrated the urbanite's pursuit of the natural world and romantic feelings, and created an ideal living place. It featured abundant supporting resources, such as lake, community park and commercial facilities, reshaped the value core of the urban life, and brought about changes in human settlement and life concepts.
