Grey Green Residence

The project is a unit type residence located in Shandong. Through the use of materials, structures, and zoning, this example transcends the usual idea of a traditional home and produces a peaceful and livable atmosphere for remaining at home. The original residence layout features a trivial structure in which beams are interspersed with columns. Additionally, the beams have different heights. The area is both overly divided and underused. The designer removed unnecessary components, weakened structural flaws, tore down the walls in the public area, and utilized marginal positions for storage purposes. Through the differentiation of structures, colors, and floor materials, area to reinforce the feeling of the place.
The original balcony’s wall was taken down, and the balcony was added to the living room area. Large areas of greenery and potted plants give the house a life-giving energy. The pendent lamp and dining table are made of stainless steel, giving the room an exquisite feel. The quality of the area is improved and the hardness of the minimalist environment is softened with velvet curtain and casual blankets. The line-of-sight travels through the living room, end views, and kitchen. It looks like the diagonal articulation of a traditional Chinese garden in the southern area of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It gives rise to a passage that meanders like a corridor, giving a hint of a winding path that leads to deep and quiet seclusion.The top surface of the vestibule is flush with the dining room beam. The columns separate the two areas. The uniform height of the top surfaces and the uniform ground materials enhance the feeling of the region.The top, ground, walls, and columns separate to create a courtyard lit by natural light. They look like corridors and pavilions in traditional Chinese gardens.
