The Game of Equality

The advancement of the Internet and the development of capitalist society have made the battle of gender confrontation more and more frequent and intense. Various "Me Too" campaigns and organizations have only continued to emphasize to the community the intensity of the problem of gender inequality but have not proposed a solution. Therefore, "The Game of Equality" was designed to address the root causes of the pain.



The Game of Equality is an AR game that aims to teach children around 8 to 12 about gender equality. This game can effectively and interestingly guide children to think about what gender equality is by letting them immerse in the typical gender inequality situation in their daily lives.



This game consists of a pop-up book and an AR game on a phone. The pop-up book is responsible for presenting the scenes. In this game, the player will become a member of the virtual world and grow up by entering kindergarten, going to school, and joining society with two other game characters. In the process, they encounter different conversations around gender. At the end of each conversation, the player needs to choose between three options to answer based on their thoughts. The three options represent extreme feminism, extreme masculinity, and egalitarianism. Different choices will result in three outcomes: Utopia, Regression, and Forward.



After the children play the game and see the results, they can re-play it. Through this playful experience, children can have a basic understanding of what represents gender discrimination. They will connect similar topics to the game situations when they see similar issues in this world. I hope this will reduce the likelihood that they will grow up to become gender-biased people. Further, alleviates gender discrimination in society.
