Riverview Residence

This residence in the Jiangbei District of Nanjing was designed for a retiring couple. The design balances transcendence and immanence, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and functionality. It focuses on creating a slow-paced, elegant and tranquil residence away from the city's hustle and bustle, providing a comfortable emotional experience for the couple.
The designers reorganized the layout to achieve a "De-Clean Break" while maintaining the owner's living habits and creating an aesthetically pleasing order of life. By nesting the master bedroom, master bathroom, guest bathroom, living room and dining room in a proportional manner, the entire space provides twice as much storage for the owner while visually presenting a simple and spacious effect.
As part of the design, the foyer was constructed as a cabinet enclosure to give a sense of ritual to the entrance. Upon entering the living room from the foyer, the owner is immediately greeted with a full-size view of the river, which opens up the room and creates a suspenseful turn of emotions.
The colours of the space are based on calming wood-grain walls, white cabinets, and light grey furniture, in accordance with the owner's desire for a restful atmosphere after retirement. The space is designed with transparency in mind, creating a seamless flow between the guest bedroom, balcony, and living room. This clever design reduces the sense of boundaries and provides an interesting route for movement.
