Our design is inspired by the deep-rooted love for grilled food, which is said to have originated from the legendary figure Fu Xi. According to the legend, Fu Xi introduced the art of grilling birds, fish, and wild animals with heavenly fire to prevent diseases caused by consuming raw food. The cultural significance of grilling goes beyond awakening primal memories; it tantalizes the senses through visual and gustatory temptations.
In representing the "Traditional Chinese style," we move away from literal symbols and instead deconstruct and reassemble the implicit threads of cultural heritage. We establish connections with shared sentiments found in traditional culture, using color and texture as intentional references.
Our design revolves around the concept of "Joy of Gathering Around the Fire." We use materials to narrate the space, creating a purer sensory experience that leaves a lingering imaginative aftertaste. By cleverly hiding smoke vents, we form two dining areas at different heights, releasing the tension caused by partitions and creating a sense of spaciousness. The open dining area allows for privacy control through table distances and lighting.
The bar serves as the visual centerpiece of the restaurant, focusing primarily on showcasing beverages. Its minimalistic design directs guests' attention to the dazzling selection of drinks, enhancing the overall experience.
The stage, located at the center, serves as the core of the circular layout. Guests can enjoy performances from various positions, providing a multidimensional dining experience. Giant circular lanterns echo the stage's design while concealing equipment and creating visual privacy for the second-floor private rooms. Cascading red velvet drapes expand the perception of vertical space.
With a "Profoundly Hidden, Seem to be Inexistent" approach, we design fully enclosed private rooms on the second floor, surrounding the central open space. The folding screens can be used to separate the indoor dining area from the stage when guests prefer not to be disturbed by performances.
The design transcends literal representations of "Traditional Chinese style" and establishes connections with shared sentiments through color, texture, and immersive experiences.
