"Rebirth in the name of love" is a transformative project converting Taiwan POW Camp No. 3, the largest WWII POW camp in Taiwan, into a shelter for stray animals. The camp's 80-year history, from serving as a POW camp to a military garrison, disaster shelter, and now an animal sanctuary, is commemorated through a government-sponsored exhibition.

The exhibition's theme revolves around the concept of freedom deprivation and liberation through love, depicted through historical narratives and expressions of life's essence. Inspired by love letters between a British POW and his fiancé, and poems from a daughter to her missing father, visitors are encouraged to write handwritten letters expressing their emotions.

Water, symbolizing life, takes center stage, reflecting the cycle of vapor rising, condensing, and returning as rain. The whimsical "Cloud People" metaphorically represents life's continuity amidst somber themes of war. The project integrates authentic poems and graffiti with mirrors to facilitate the expression of complex emotions, contrasting modern technology's detachment from inner feelings.

In a bid to preserve history, the project uncovers remnants of the past, ensuring the legacy of the camp and its inhabitants endures. As General MacArthur famously said, "Old soldiers never die—they just fade away." Through remembrance, the project ensures that the sacrifices and stories of the past remain etched in memory, safeguarding against their disappearance.
