Warmth of honesty

This work was designed for a homeowner from Hong Kong, who expects his house to not only be a dwelling place, but also to serve the important function of hosting guests and meetings, based on the purpose of his work and the need for reception. Also, he would like to have the overall display of the house retain the visual effect of grandeur and spaciousness. Due to the expectations mentioned, the biggest challenge is how to adjust the layout within the limited public space. Our design philosophy is to “reserve the most beautiful views for the most frequently used areas”, especially the meeting and reception space requested by the homeowner meanwhile we have the advantage of this site as the light terrace, we, therefore, shifted it to the side of the terrace. It allows guests to enjoy the view of the high-rise building from the two large floor-to-ceiling windows, at the same time, we also designed a perspective effect in the entrance cabinet, so that guests can vaguely see the view of the terrace in the distance as soon as they step into the room. This design not only enhances the flow and transparency of the space but also creates a coherent visual effect, giving the whole space a textured, warm, and grand atmosphere. Another design challenge is how to maintain the openness of the entire public area while adding this meeting and reception space. After much thought, we boldly designed an angled TV wall in the living room. Since angled edges maximize the visual width in a square space, we designed the wall in a 45-degree direction to separate the meeting and reception space from the living room, thus solving this design difficulty. In addition to this, the feature we want to emphasize in this work is the vast number of natural elements. It starts with the exclusive terrace view, and to bring this out, we use natural components to give the space a warm and rustic texture, while also echoing the original architectural concept.
