With the increasing scarcity of urban land and growing ecological concerns such as the "whitening of green hills," traditional burial methods are no longer sustainable. The concept of cemetery parks has emerged as a new trend. In response to the burial needs and cemetery park trend, this project integrates ecological landscaping with cultural and artistic elements to create a memorial park that combines functions of remembrance, cultural heritage, life education, and leisure.
The project is surrounded by mountains on three sides with a deep valley, offering exceptional natural conditions based on feng shui principles. The design follows the principles of ecological priority, cultural integration, and multifunctionality, aiming to transform the solemn atmosphere of traditional cemeteries into a healing, natural public space.
1. Ecological Priority
The project employs a landscape-focused approach, preserving and optimizing the site's natural resources to the greatest extent. By promoting eco-friendly burial methods, it minimizes land use and environmental damage caused by traditional burial practices.
2. Cultural Integration
By incorporating Ningbo’s local culture and life philosophy, the site features a series of landscape nodes related to life education and cultural heritage. These spaces not only serve as places of remembrance but also encourage reflection on life and continuity of regional culture.
3. Multifunctionality
The design caters to various groups, including those seeking burial, memorial services, life education, and spiritual tourism. Three themed routes are planned:
The Journey Of Farewell focuses on memorial services, offering a comforting environment for family and friends to mourn and find solace.
The Journey Of Life Education centers on life education, with spaces such as the Red Cross Memorial Pavilion and educational corridors, encouraging respect and love for life.
The Journey Of Meditation leverages the natural surroundings, featuring spaces like a healing garden and forest rest areas, inviting visitors to seek inner peace and serenity.
Through sustainable ecological strategies, cultural exploration, and multifunctional design, the project offers a space for reflection, remembrance, learning, and relaxation, allowing the meaning of life to resonate within the landscape.
