The lip balm packaging, Beautés sauvages à protéger par Axilone, puts 3R principles—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—at the forefront of the design philosophy. It presents pressing environmental issues in a fun and approachable design, not only for practical use but also to raise awareness in daily lives.
In tune with general aesthetic preferences of female consumers, this packaging design transforms three animals—the lynx, polar bear, and red panda—into adorable IP characters. Beyond just sparking affection, these chosen animals are either vulnerable or endangered, aiming to raise users' awareness of wildlife protection. The animal ring, circling the tube, isn't just adorable; it also evokes the warmth of a hug, symbolizing harmony between humans and nature. It can be detached and used independently, embodying the principle of reuse. After all, who wouldn't want to showcase personal charm in their daily routines?
The tube is made from paper leather, an innovative mono-material that embodies the principles of "reduce" and "recycle," as it is created by re-pulping, disintegrating, and de-inking discarded paper, and ultimately repurposing what would otherwise be waste into a sustainable material, reducing reliance on wood. This mono-material has been specially processed to mimic the texture of real leather without cruelty towards animals. This choice also avoids pollution caused by synthetic leather production. The paper leather tube exudes a refined sense that transcends the plain appearance of traditional eco-friendly cosmetic products, balancing environmental protection and aesthetics. The texture on each tube reflects the habitat of the featured animal. For example, the polar bear variant is a white tube with irregular circular patterns, evoking the frozen landscapes of the Arctic. This texture design gives each tube a unique natural allure, raising users' environmental awareness in a tangible way.
The natural plant-based formulas prioritizes users' health, with each variant tailored to reflect the featured animal’s characteristics. For instance, the formula for red panda variant uses a natural, fruity scent, resonating with users through a sensory connection. The complimentary mirror, made from organosilicone and eco-friendly aluminum, is both stylish and durable. And its back introduces the featured animal for improving public awareness.
