Boldness, and a new breakthrough of Denim

Fashion is a powerful means of self-expression that displays individuality through bold and innovative designs. The more personality is expressed actively, the more I feel attractive and authenticity in fashion. That is why I prefer passionate and bold styles of fashion. In particular, I like the intensity and weight that men feel when they wear clothes bigger than their bodies. Based on this inspiration, I created avant-garde men's art wear using denim. The work consisted of coats, tops, pants, and hoods, and a total of 20 yards of indigo denim were used.



The central elements of the work, the pattern made of long shirring and lox bleaching, are noteworthy elements in the work. Tools such as sandpaper, knives, and scissors were used to emphasize the gritty and rough feeling, and low-density denim was selected to effectively reveal its characteristics. At the design stage, it was determined that a thick coat covering the entire body would convey this feeling the best, so the coat was designed first among the four pieces.

On a large-area denim coat, a total of 12 rows of shirring, including the front, side, and back center, were stretched vertically to create large and small wrinkles. This was designed to focus the gaze and to give unique details that could not be seen in existing standard courts. In the bleaching process, it took 3 to 5 days to dry the denim using a lock. Considering the length of the clothes that are shrinking due to shirring, the length of the coat was measured and cut twice. In this process, a tunnel pattern about 3m long and a string that could withstand the weight of the coat were used. After sewing, it was sprayed with lock to emphasize the worn-out feeling.



Through this work, we tried to re-examine the activity of fashion and provide a new fashion experience through avant-garde design. It aims to present a new perspective on men's fashion that challenges existing boundaries and embodies authenticity and boldness at the same time.
