Shierlan · VIRAAG Collection Hotel stands as a rare riverside hotel in Xishuangbanna. The name "Shier" ingeniously reflects the essence of "Xishuang", the first half of the placename, while also embodying the Buddhist principle of chance encounters and destinies. "Lan" comes from the Lancang River, representing a life philosophy of openness and ambition. VIRAAG, originating from ancient Sanskrit in India which is the cradle of Buddhism, signifies "freedom from worldly worries". Together, these elements establish the hotel's distinctive character and ambiance.
The hotel is situated with its back to the mountains and facing the river, crafting a serene and peaceful ambiance amidst the intertwining natural elements. Its streamlined architecture exudes simplicity and grandeur to perfectly blend with the surrounding dense foliage, as if one has stepped into a classical Chinese landscape painting, distanced from any urban clamor. Incorporating classical Dai architectural influences and Southeast Asian Buddhist cultural traits, the hotel's rooftop boasts striking Dai characteristics and predominantly features traditional tones of red, brown and black. A profusion of red bricks and wooden elements lend a rustic and substantial feel, consonant with the solemn yet understated essence of Buddhism, while also reflecting the fervent spirit in tropical regions. The interior decor showcases a selection of classical Southeast Asian antiques or original creations by local artisans, harmoniously combining Southeast Asian heritage with contemporary art to establish a distinctive and coherent aesthetic.
The hotel boasts an expansive atmosphere, making guests enjoy panoramic river views that evoke a sense of vastness absent in urban settings. Its exceptional 42-meter-long, temperature-controlled infinity pool mirrors the majestic river for their relaxation. Furthermore, the hotel's DAIKIN central air conditioning system guarantees optimal comfort, while its meditation room serves as a serene sanctuary for mindfulness and yoga, offering a peaceful escape from the clamor of urban life.
