A Green Liveable City
Hong Kong's City Gallery 1/F has been transformed into a dynamic space designed to inspire children and teenagers, cultivating them as tomorrow's leaders in sustainability. The exhibition, themed "The Balance Beam of Development and Conservation," moves beyond traditional displays to become a catalyst for environmental stewardship and a deeper understanding of urban ecology.
The "Green Liveable City" zone welcomes visitors with multi-screens that illustrate the harmony between urban development and the natural world. Each element is carefully designed to spark curiosity and foster environmental awareness, setting the stage for an educational journey that encourages critical thinking about how to balance progress with ecological responsibility.
The "15-minute Neighbourhood" zone features interactive game tables where young planners can create walkable, sustainable communities. This hands-on experience allows them to understand the importance of accessibility and smart urban planning. In the "Blue-Green Infrastructure" zone, innovative installations showcase practical rainwater management solutions, highlighting real-world applications for flood prevention and water conservation in an increasingly climate-challenged world.
The exhibition then focuses on urban forestry and biodiversity. The "Green Homes" pinball installation and treehouse adventure combine entertainment with education, emphasising the vital role of urban green spaces. "Eco-Exploration" showcases Hong Kong's diverse ecological landscape, fostering appreciation for local biodiversity and encouraging conservation efforts. Here, visitors can use interactive telescopes to observe wetland ecosystems and employ specialised torches to discover nocturnal wildlife, creating an engaging exploration of Hong Kong's natural habitats.
The journey culminates in "Building Green Liveable City Together," where visitors contribute to a collaborative digital artwork of sustainable urban design. This interactive finale reinforces the idea of community action and shared responsibility in creating a sustainable future for all citizens.
This floor exemplifies urban sustainability education through its innovative storytelling and interactive experiences. As both an educational resource and a platform for community engagement, it represents an investment in Hong Kong's greener, more resilient future.
