The project, inspired by the natural scenery of a small city in southern Switzerland—Lugano—and its typical Italian minimalism, aims to create a relaxing living space infused with nature’s essence. Taking “tree, stone, and feather” as three major themes, it ingeniously transforms swaying palm fronds, cold stone, and light-as-air feathers into delicate textures of furniture pieces, which, paired with meticulously designed components, embodies the charm of nature and adds a modern, exquisite aesthetic. As for material selection, the skillful integration of wood and stone exudes understated Italian romance.
The project adheres to an integrated concept in terms of space, craftsmanship, style, material, and functionality, breaking away from a lack of cohesion in traditional houses for visual harmony. The full-hidden design seamlessly integrates cabinet doors and home appliances; modular cabinets allow for flexible combinations, adapting to various house types while ensuring visual coherence and simplicity. The idea of practical aesthetics is reflected in every detail: the staggered shelves, complemented by the efficient utilization of natural and artificial light, lead to a more open, transparent, and practical space; the integration of multiple functions improves space utilization and aesthetic appeal.
Considering the needs of different functional areas, the project adopts an approach of “Differentiation by Design” to offer immersive experiences. The kitchen employs an L-shaped layout, prioritizing both of efficiency and aesthetic pleasure. The dining room features floating wall cabinets and warm lighting to create a relaxing, elegant atmosphere. In the living room, the generous use of negative space, together with arc-shaped sofas and other low-profile furniture pieces, contributes to a tranquil, healing core area. Additionally, the study with irregular geometric bookshelves and translucent sheer curtains provides a private yet open learning space. In terms of color selection, the well-chosen mid-tone colors result in a strong contrast to give a high-class touch with improved visual layering, achieving the harmonious unity of refined living and free-spirited ease.
