Tracing the axis of time, the “Glow of Light, Central of Prime” Christmas installation reawakens the memories of Sunray Port—once the historical root of the current West Bund Central. This site-specific project embraces the layers of past and present, merging the legacy of century-old relics with contemporary creativity to shape a luminous winter narrative.
Inspired by the West Bund’s high-density artistic environment, the installation elevates Christmas decor into a seasonal art intervention. Anchored in the Art Deco heritage that took root in Shanghai at the Sunray Port warehouse, the project reflects a modern homage to that iconic aesthetic—known for its blend of elegance, geometry, and cultural fusion. It aligns with West Bund Central’s lifestyle vision: a refined coexistence of art, humanity, and urban rhythm.
Themed “Glow of Light, Central of Prime,” the installation features four original artistic landmarks:
Glowing Rose Window – A golden Christmas tree casts shimmering reflections against an ornate façade, inviting visitors into a dreamlike winter scene.
Winter Wishing Fountain – Inspired by Rome’s Trevi Fountain, this interactive spot lets visitors toss wishes and wind up a surprise music box, joining a poised ballerina in motion.
Modern Station – A century-old railway station is reimagined as a vintage-modern platform, where history and modernity converse through curated art pieces.
Dreamy Winter Garden – Snow-draped scenery envelops guests in soft textures and romantic light, igniting joy and warmth.
At the heart of the display shines the “Star of Bethlehem”—a beacon guiding myriad rays of light. It symbolizes blessings for the new year, lighting every step forward with renewed brilliance.
This holiday installation not only revives a historical spirit but also redefines festive celebration as a dialogue between time, style, and soul—creating a poetic journey where art empowers life, and winter glows with heritage and hope.
