Located at the border of Jinshan and Wanli in New Taipei City, this area is Taiwan’s core azalea cultivation base, producing around six million plants annually—accounting for 80% of the national output and generating more than NT$100 million in value. Guided by the concept of “landscape as exhibition,” the design team has, since 2022, gradually advanced landscape projects that integrate the local floriculture industry with park greening, overturning the stereotype of azaleas as mere engineering plants and shaping a unique urban identity for the north coast.
Along Masu Creek, approximately 12,000 azaleas of seven varieties were planted, forming a riverside floral belt. In 2023, the “Yong Wan Jin” Waterfall Garden was constructed at Wanli Tourist Park. By 2024, the “Ying Shan Garden” was completed, blending Japanese-style landscaping with diverse plantings including Hirado azaleas, Satsuki azaleas, black pines, and cherry blossoms. In 2025, the scope expanded to 30 hectares with the addition of 23,000 azaleas across 12 new varieties, further enriching the landscape’s seasonal rhythms.
Planting strategies were designed in harmony with the four seasons: azaleas and cherry blossoms in spring, wisteria and fringe trees in summer, red maples in autumn, and evergreen pines and cypress in winter. This ensures a year-round display of natural beauty, transforming the area into an essential public green corridor that enhances both daily life and recreational experience for residents.
