Nocturne Noir is a residential retreat nestled near the Hsinchu Science Park in Taiwan, designed for a professional couple who sought a home that would serve as both a private sanctuary and a space for refined living. Their lifestyle—shaped by high-paced careers and a deep appreciation for wine, gastronomy, and minimalism—inspired an interior concept grounded in quiet sophistication and immersive calm. The spatial arrangement of the apartment flows around a central open-plan core, where the kitchen, dining, and living areas merge into one unified expanse. This layout not only maximizes connectivity and movement but also sets the stage for a holistic sensory experience defined by tone, texture, and natural light. The design draws heavily from the meditative beauty of Chinese ink wash painting, interpreting its tonal depth through a carefully curated spectrum of dark materials. Each surface is selected not merely for color, but for its tactile and reflective qualities. Nocturne Noir is not simply a dark interior—it is an orchestrated composition of light, material, and emotion. It embodies a tranquil cocoon where the pressures of the outside world dissolve, and where beauty, comfort, and thoughtful design converge to restore the soul.
