In 2025, the Keron Development Foundation, in close partnership with the Kentron Administrative District of Yerevan, launched an ambitious initiative to create three innovative public playgrounds—setting a new standard for accessible, inclusive, and culturally inspired play in Armenia’s capital.

Designed for children aged 0–12 and free of any commercial elements, these playgrounds are the first of their kind in Yerevan: built to international safety and accessibility standards (EN 1176), tailored to the needs of different age groups, and open to everyone. Each playground tells a story rooted in Armenian culture and nature—whether it’s the enchanted world of the red-spotted trout, the vivid geometry of traditional Armenian carpets, or the thrill of scaling the city’s tallest slide in a vertical playground. These spaces are more than places to play—they're invitations to imagine, learn, and grow. Community involvement was key to the project’s success. Through consultations with parents, local residents, and urban design experts, each space was shaped to reflect real needs: rest areas for caregivers, water fountains, natural shade, lighting, and safety features like security cameras. Inclusion was non-negotiable. All playgrounds integrate features that support children with disabilities whether through sensory play elements, barrier-free paths, or equipment designed for universal participation. Environmental sustainability also guided every design decision. Over 70% of surfaces are permeable and natural; materials include recycled plastics and ocean waste; and green space was fully preserved; no trees were cut during development.Led by UrUrban (design and oversight) and DSVent (engineering and construction), this project brings together international best practices and a deeply local spirit. These playgrounds stand as living proof that well-designed public space can nurture imagination, inclusion, and community pride.Together, we’re building not just playgrounds—but lasting places of joy, discovery, and belonging.
