Seventeen · Mountain Retreat Art Hotel
Where the Sacred Mountain Meets the Soul

Nestled on the viewing terrace of Feilai Temple in Deqin County, Shangri-La City, Yunnan Province, Seventeen · Mountain Retreat Art Hotel is a sanctuary overlooking the majestic Meili Snow Mountain. Designed as a spiritual haven, it blends Tibetan vernacular architecture with Wabi-sabi aesthetics, creating a space where serenity, harmony, and nature converge.
Originally a multimedia center, the building was thoughtfully transformed to echo the sacred landscape around it. The exterior embraces Tibetan forms, while the interior merges locally rooted Tibetan elements with minimalist, contemplative design. Every detail—from handwoven rugs from Nepal to carefully curated furnishings—has been selected to honor the land and elevate the senses.
Each morning begins with a silent greeting from Kawagebo, the highest peak of Meili, as sunlight touches the snow-capped ridge. In this tranquil setting, guests are invited to slow down, reflect, and reconnect—with nature, with spirit, and with self.
This retreat was conceived not merely as accommodation, but as a spiritual garden—a place to heal, to wish, and to be transformed. It is designed for those who come with reverence, seeking solace far from the noise of city life. Here, emotional value is at the heart of hospitality: it is not a hotel, but a curator of inner peace.
This is a space of emotional resonance—a refuge for the soul. Whether you're watching the shifting clouds over the peaks or meditating in the quiet of your room, the rhythm of the mountains offers its own form of therapy. The hotel doesn’t just provide shelter—it offers a sacred rhythm, where stillness holds meaning and every stay becomes a journey inward.
