Step through the door, a serene expanse of crystal blue immediately unfurls, evoking the refreshing clarity of the open sky. Soft wisps of white intersect the scene like drifting clouds, as if lifting the viewer gently into flight—carried along sweeping curves that flow inward toward a home immersed in tranquil, dusky blues. Within this quiet haven, diffused light falls gently across the room—warm wood tones glow on one side, while subtle gradients of silvery blue layer the other—conjuring the sensation of gliding above the clouds and beholding the ever-shifting dance of light and time.
Inspired by the panoramic vistas admired by the homeowner, a commercial airline pilot, the palette is anchored in layered shades of blue accented by cool whites and grays. The idea evokes a luminous skyscape where clouds meander through an endless firmament. Touches of warmth emerge across the feature wall of the living room and headboard of the master bedroom, blending with wood cabinets and laminate wood flooring in understated hues. These elements conjure the soft glow of sunset—whether draped across the horizon or falling to earth—surrounding the homeowner with cherished visions of sky and light, gently restoring body and spirit upon returning home to this personal sanctuary.
This project marks the first use of AURO artistic coating imported from Germany. Taking advantage of its unique compatibility with soybean wax paints, the designer skillfully hand-layered the surface with soft, undulating patterns—subtle yet expressive, like brushstrokes capturing the day’s changing light. These textures lend depth to the blue and warm tones across the space, shaping a visual landscape that feels organic and richly dimensional. Daylight flows through the open layout, while ambient lighting tucked into architectural edges enhances the intricacies of each shade and surface. Carefully selected furnishings with the homeowner and echo a shared sensitivity to detail—quietly expressing a life attuned to aesthetics and intention.
In the early construction phase, the designer removed the partition wall between the kitchen and entryway, making way for a custom-built corner with a soft, rounded edge.
