The Qingdao Metro Line 6 Phase I Project (Xintun Road – Eco-Park) is a modern underground rail transit development that integrates transportation functionality with urban public space design. As a key component of the city’s public transportation network, this project not only serves the essential role of efficiently managing passenger flow and optimizing urban mobility, but also aims to create a safe, convenient, sustainable, and intelligent metro environment.
Guided by the core principles of "people-first, safety and efficiency, and sustainable development," the design features a scientifically planned spatial layout that clearly separates concourse and platform functions. Optimized passenger circulation ensures smooth movement during peak hours and rapid evacuation in emergencies. Emphasis is placed on human-centered experience, incorporating barrier-free access, intelligent wayfinding systems, and a comfortable acoustic and lighting environment to significantly enhance the overall travel experience.
In terms of materials and technology, the project adopts innovative building solutions such as GRG (Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum) for artistic forms, translucent concrete, prefabricated terrazzo, and anodized aluminum panels. Advanced methodologies like BIM (Building Information Modeling) and modular prefabrication are widely implemented—ensuring high durability, low maintenance, and seamless integration of aesthetics and functionality.
Culturally, the design thoughtfully reflects Qingdao’s local heritage. Through the strategic use of color, materials, and artistic elements, each station becomes a “subterranean cultural gallery,” reinforcing civic identity and enhancing the city’s image.
Furthermore, the project places strong emphasis on environmental responsibility and social value. Recyclable materials are extensively used, complemented by green technologies such as rainwater harvesting, rooftop photovoltaic systems, and energy-efficient HVAC and lighting. These measures align with low-carbon and sustainable development goals.
The carefully designed stations not only improve urban aesthetics and citizen well-being but also stimulate economic activity and urban regeneration along the corridor.
In summary, the Qingdao Metro Line 6 Phase I Project stands as a comprehensive, forward-thinking public infrastructure initiative that harmonizes cutting-edge technology, humanistic care, and ecological responsibility—setting a benchmark for high-quality urban rail transit development.
