The EcoMoon is an innovative form of green infrastructure designed to be installed directly on the ground, where it captures rainwater, restores soil health, and revives ecosystems in the barren lands of Africa.

In the heart of the continent, the land suffers under relentless heat and drought. The once fertile earth has hardened into baked pans of soil and sand, repelling water rather than absorbing it. When storms arrive, rainwater runs off instead of soaking in, eroding the land and reinforcing a destructive cycle in which the soil becomes increasingly compact and lifeless.

The EcoMoon breaks this cycle. Each installation is shaped like a raised crescent, its edge acting as a retaining wall, with soil heaped behind to form a bund around the curve. These bunds can be planted with trees or shrubs, while grasses are sown between and around the shallow basins. Over time, this vegetation transforms the site into a living desert oasis, where grasses anchor the soil, shrubs provide shelter, and trees bring shade and habitat.

With sustained application, the EcoMoon can turn barren land into productive, plantable terrain. By boosting local biodiversity and reversing soil degradation, it transforms a vicious cycle into a healthy, self-sustaining system. Just like its celestial namesake, the EcoMoon symbolizes renewal, restoring hope to the vast and resilient lands of Africa.
