The first-ever Asian edition of the World Masters Games, and Taiwan’s largest international sporting event since the pandemic, used light as the language of emotion and energy—seamlessly connecting ceremonies, performances, and atmosphere to immerse both spectators and athletes.
For the athletes’ entrance, we broke away from the traditional, formal parade format. Dynamic beams, color transitions, and music were synchronized with precision to create a festive yet dignified party-like atmosphere. For many of these non-professional and even senior athletes, this may be their one and only chance to step onto an international stage. We wanted the moment they entered the arena to be filled with the true glory of being an athlete.
The torch-lighting ceremony combined mechanical installations, lasers, AR animation, and rhythmic lighting. Five saplings—symbols of hope—grew into a cosmic tree, its light radiating outward from the core to represent the flourishing of life’s energy. The lighting evolved from gathering and focusing to a powerful burst, transitioning seamlessly into the next performance while sustaining emotional momentum and visual intensity.
The three performance segments were designed to:
• Drape the venue in vibrant colors to represent Taiwan’s cultural diversity;
• Use theatrical lighting techniques to guide scene changes and narrative flow;
• After the torch was lit, unleash high-energy beams and rhythms to create a nationwide celebration.
Lighting design ran through the entire show, ensuring layered visuals and a continuous emotional build.
Throughout the event, we employed the latest MA3 lighting control system, whose high-speed response and advanced integration enabled millisecond-accurate synchronization between complex lighting effects and music. With fewer devices delivering greater output, the design not only optimized spatial and energy efficiency but also embodied our commitment to precision, efficiency, and sustainability.
For the closing ceremony, the lighting extended into the city itself. Expansive outdoor visuals and interactive lighting allowed even non-participating audiences to share in the athletes’ glory—ending the World Masters Games in a brilliant display of unity and celebration.
