A conceptual Chinese food tasting event in Thailand, blending Chinese culinary heritage with Thai cultural cues to create an immersive, cross-cultural brand experience, and here are the project highlights:
1. Cultural Translation:
Red—symbolizing luck in China but an everyday color in Thailand—was adapted into chili red and vermilion gradients, paired with gold to evoke appetite and festivity without fatigue. Flavor identity shifted from purely “sour & spicy” to Thailand’s beloved spicy-sweet balance. The Chinese phrase “十全十美” (perfect in every way) was reframed through Thai Buddhist symbolism as “Ten Directions of Dharma,” creating deeper local resonance.
2. Spatial Storytelling:
Chinese steaming baskets became Thai sticky rice steamers, soy sauce jars were swapped for fish sauce urns, and chili pepper curtains bridged both food cultures. Mahjong-tile typography was reimagined in Thai comic style for booth signage, seating prints, and photo backdrops.
3. Digital Activation:
A “Flavor Match” social media test paired Chinese dishes with Thai condiments. Thai-styled Mahjong GIFs and stickers plus the hashtag #十味十足 (a Thai pun on “Ten Flavors, Full Satisfaction”) drove online participation.
4. Impact:
Designed to heighten appetite, spark cultural connection, and generate shareable moments, this concept maximizes engagement, brand recall, and future vendor collaborations through affordable, modular, and locally resonant elements.
