Within a limited 130-square-meter space, this project offers a modern interpretation of the traditional Chinese Taoist philosophy of Yin and Yang. The layout designates the central courtyard as "Yin" and the four private tea rooms as "Yang." Between them, six inner courtyards of varying scales are skillfully embedded, forming a spatial sequence where substance and void generate one another, creating a natural flow of energy.
Eastern aesthetics champion the idea that "while words are finite, meaning is infinite." Grounded in the philosophy of Yin and Yang, the design unfolds boundless imaginative possibilities for life's atmosphere within a compact domain, distilling an Eastern spirit into a contemporary experience. We are dedicated to reinterpreting the spatial form of the Eastern teahouse through a contemporary aesthetic language. By combining traditional furniture design with modern spatial strategies, and setting eco-friendly materials against lush greenery, we have constructed a physical space that embodies both Eastern heritage and a modern spirit.
Each of the four tea rooms is named after verses and concepts from the Diamond Sutra. The curated artworks feature unique interpretations of the theme "emptiness" by a diverse group of artists from past to present, East to West. Furthermore, a holographic acoustic installation has been introduced to recreate the soundscapes of natural energy. Together, these elements create an immersive experience that is fluid, poetic, and filled with spiritual resonance.
