This newly completed apartment in Taoyuan’s Qingpu District was designed for two. The owners had a clear preference for neutral tones—eschewing both the wood-heavy warmth of Japanese interiors and high-saturation colors—in favor of a modern, clean, and refined grey palette. Without removing walls or generating waste, the design centered on functional integration, reorganizing the circulation between the refrigerator, appliance cabinet, and island. Lighting and a curved ceiling were introduced to mitigate beam pressure, allowing this compact layout to feel more expansive, cohesive, and filled with rhythm and order.
The social area is unified through circular design elements that soften linear constraints. The dining table, for example, was changed from rectangular to round, dissolving formality and echoing the gentle curvature of the ceiling above. As sunlight moves across the tabletop, subtle shadows lend warmth to the cool grey palette. The television wall minimizes bulky cabinetry, replacing it with open shelving and recessed lighting to highlight the owners’ collection of model figures—avoiding clutter and preserving visual breathing room.
In the private area, the master bedroom employs ribbed glass panels for the walk-in closet doors, turning functional partitions into semi-transparent screens where light and silhouette overlap. During the day, natural light filters through; at night, reflections are softened for a sense of depth and calm. The two secondary bedrooms forego desks, allowing unified cabinetry to extend seamlessly across the walls, reducing visual fragmentation. At the entryway, no partition wall was installed, enabling sunlight from the windows to reach deep into the home—transforming the entrance into a luminous transition zone rather than a barrier.
