The site is located in Longwan Village, Dongguan. The village has a long history and is now a naturally-developed urban village. As the village is not well-planned and underdeveloped, the space in the village is chaotic and villagers don’t have sufficient space to rest. In addition, building density in the village is high, so that the living space is quite narrow and crowded. The site is located at the center of the urban village. The old activity center is dilapidated and its surrounding public space lacks planning, which results in unsmooth public space and flow line. The design taps the public space in the village by designing a new activity center and planning the related spaces, so as to energize the urban village and improve the living quality of the villagers.
