This space creates shadows with faint sunlight from the courtyard and skylight, which fall on matte-colored tiles and walnut veneer flooring. Tabigokoro Doma (Traveler's Earthen Floor)
This home, "Tabigokoro Doma," is designed with the scenery of a traditional earthen floor that evokes a non-daily, "away from home" feeling. Instead of just at the entrance, the act of taking off shoes is extended to the living room, which is designed like an earthen floor, before stepping up to a tiered Japanese-style room like a veranda.
