The design concept of Arc’teryx store draws inspiration from the majestic landscapes of Canada’s Coast Mountains, translating the brand’s natural DNA into a spatial narrative through the language of architecture.
More than a store, the “Origin” is a living expression of the brand’s spirit—an immersive journey from the rock face to the edge of the extreme.
Shaped by the Coast Mountains, the facade unfolds in layers like snowlines weaving into rock, forming a bold mountain silhouette. Metal grids echo cracks and climbing routes, a symbol of the brand’s origin: from the rock face, always ascending. The architecture extends nature itself—while calling forth the spirit within.
Stepping into the store, customers follow a meandering “mountain trail” that guides their journey within. The entrance facade, rising and falling in layered rhythms, traces the silhouette of distant peaks, while the metallic lattice alludes to the fissures of sheer cliffs—a subtle metaphor that echoes the brand’s spirit of exploration, born from the rock face itself.
Shaped by layers of stone, the fixtures rise from a raw, rugged base against a rock-textured wall, embodying a spirit “born for the outdoors.” Each product stands ready, as if to carry customers through snow and wind, over mountains high.
Within the store, the path unfolds like an ascent through the wild. The journey is narrated through three immersive showcases—ice climbing, rock climbing, and trekking—each a chapter in the story of exploration.
Ice Climbing | This icefall, with a distinctive formation, enabled athletes to achieve the first ascent and finished the challenge, garnering international attention within the ice climbing community.
Rock Climbing Window | This route at White Mountain in Yangshuo had climbers achieve ascent, a testament to the high level of rock climbing and a breakthrough for development.
Hiking Window | This trail in Vancouver had hikers traverse sections and forests, a journey demonstrating endurance and performance against coastal conditions.
