Western Yunnan, the last stop of the Ancient Tea - Horse Road in Yunnan, is home to Bingzhongluo, a place known as the "Abode Where Humans and Gods Coexist". Here, the cultures of diverse ethnic minorities blend seamlessly, and the natural scenery is breathtakingly magnificent. However, the renovation of the abandoned inn poses challenges such as complex terrain and inconvenient transportation.
The lighting design team led by Shi Yachao adheres to three core principles in the design concept. Firstly, we respect nature. Given the abundant sunlight in Western Yunnan, we've designed an intelligent dimming system. During the day, it utilizes natural light sensors to reduce the brightness of artificial lighting. At night, it adjusts the color temperature of the lights according to the temperature and time, creating a warm atmosphere and achieving a balance between energy - saving, environmental protection, and a comfortable experience.
Secondly, we tailor the lighting to the building. We customize lighting solutions based on different functional areas of the inn. In the public lobby, a combination of chandeliers and wall lamps is used to create a spacious and bright ambiance. In the guest rooms, low - color - temperature bedside lamps and floor lamps are employed to craft a peaceful sleeping environment.
Thirdly, we integrate culture. We delve deep into the local ethnic cultural elements. The lamp designs draw inspiration from ethnic patterns, and the lighting layout mimics the local natural landscapes and life scenes. For instance, the lamps in the guest rooms showcase the characteristics of ethnic clothing, enabling tourists to experience the rich ethnic customs.
This project not only resolves the lighting issues of the inn but also enhances the living experience through the intelligent lighting system and inherits the local culture. Using light as our brush, we've painted a lighting picture that integrates nature, architecture, and culture in the mysterious Western Yunnan, injecting new vitality into the traditional accommodation industry
