Yuanling Sub-district Child-Friendly Service Center

Designed by DDBranding, the Shenzhen Experimental School & Yuanling Sub-district Child-Friendly Service Center stands as China’s pioneering child-friendly demonstration space developed through sub-district-school collaboration, with an unwavering focus on children’s perspectives.
The interior design is anchored in three core concepts: “Joyful Childhood”, “Flowing Humanity”, and “Growing Nature”. A warm, bright orange dominates the color scheme, while furniture with rounded edges ensures safety and interactive installations stimulate children’s creativity—collectively forging an inclusive, secure environment tailored to young users.
The first floor comprises six distinct functional zones, each serving a targeted purpose. The Exhibition Zone introduces children to cultural and artistic brands, igniting their curiosity for the arts. The Book Café preserves Shenzhen’s cultural heritage and hosts public reading events, blending literature with community interaction. The Interactive Experience Zone, featuring a Lego Wall and AI chess-playing robot, enables children to enhance logical thinking through playful engagement. The Self-Study Zone boasts ample natural light, providing a quiet, distraction-free space for focused learning. The Beverage Bar, equipped with low-height countertops and complemented by greenery, functions as a social hub for children to connect. The Children’s Play Zone, furnished with movable building blocks and a dice-game pool, offers kids the freedom to play and explore imaginatively.
On the second floor, the multi-functional hall—adorned with warm wooden tones and fitted with sound-absorbing walls—is ideally suited for exhibitions, dance sessions, and other community activities, strengthening engagement among residents.
Child-friendly design elements are integrated into every detail: from rounded-edge furniture and non-slip flooring to charming IP cartoon displays. This innovative design redefines the traditional Party-Mass service space by seamlessly integrating education, culture, and entertainment, establishing it as a global benchmark for child-friendly public spaces.
