Moonlit Whimsy Box – Mooncake Gift Box Design

The “Moonlit Whimsy Box” mooncake gift set is designed around the concept of a “puzzle storybook gift box.” Inspired by the form of children’s picture books, it transforms nine inner boxes into modular puzzle pieces, creating a Mid-Autumn gift that invites both parents and children to “play” and “read” together. The outer packaging resembles a hardcover storybook, featuring hand-painted illustrations, gold-foil typography, and a simulated book spine—evoking a playful and interactive “Book of Mid-Autumn.”

At the heart of the design is its interactive experience: when parents and children pull open the trays, nine mooncakes are revealed. Each cubic inner box can be rearranged to form five different watercolor illustrations, turning the unboxing into a collaborative visual journey. Every picture tells a Mid-Autumn story, encouraging parents to guide their children in observation and storytelling—naturally conveying the festival’s themes of reunion and cultural tradition through hands-on interaction.
