The inspiration stems from the fusion of Eastern Zen philosophy and contemporary aesthetics. The designer envisioned the space as a breathing indoor forest: the upright pine symbolizes a spiritual pillar, greenery acts as a “green lung” that regulates air, while water features reflect the fluidity of nature. The brushwork of calligraphy is transformed into spatial languages of walls and light. Materials include dark wood-grain metal, solid wood furniture, matte gray stone, and tinted glass, balancing natural warmth with modern refinement. The motivation was to create a poetic sanctuary that integrates Zen, art, humanity, and sustainability, turning the space into a natural refuge within the city.
The research draws on Eastern aesthetics, Zen architectural theory, and sustainable design strategies. It analyzes urban issues such as the absence of nature, lack of cultural depth, and poor air quality. The solution was to build a “breathing space”: green walls improving microclimates, water features regulating humidity, and natural materials like wood and stone restoring tactile authenticity. Studies indicate that combining humanistic spirit, ecological design, and smart controls enhances psychological well-being, environmental responsibility, and community cohesion. This project validates the feasibility of co-creating space with nature and serves as a model for future sustainable interior development.
