This project presents a residential space that balances artistic sensibility with functionality. The design team interprets “Italian light-luxury” through material contrast, layered lighting, and a sense of spatial flow, embodying the aesthetic of modern refined living while resonating with the owner’s philosophy that “luxury need not be noisy, and warmth can also be exquisite.”
The overall palette is anchored by the warm tones of brown wood finishes and the natural, rugged texture of gray-brown stone slabs. These two materials are joined in a “golden ratio” proportion, where the soft, inviting grain of the wood contrasts with the cool, stern hardness of the stone. This juxtaposition breaks the monotony and limitation of a single material, echoing the Italian tradition of “dialogue between natural materials,” while injecting the rationality of contemporary light-luxury.
All doors, walls, and cabinets are integrated into a seamless design. Concealed embedded doors, wall panels, and custom cabinetry blur the boundaries between door frames and walls. The space also adopts a fixture-free lighting scheme; the team uses 3000 K spotlights to highlight the stone’s texture, complemented by LED strips beneath the cabinets, creating a richly layered interplay of light and shadow that satisfies modern elites’ dual pursuit of quality and relaxed comfort.
