Shed or Tree

Shed or Tree is a project born from my daily life with cats and my belief that design should bring joy into the home — for both humans and pets. Living with limited floor space made me realize how naturally cats prefer to move vertically, climb, perch, and observe. Instead of treating cat furniture as something purely functional, I wanted to design a piece that truly supports their behavior while also becoming a playful, uplifting part of the interior environment.

The design takes inspiration from the Memphis movement — bold colors, graphic forms, and a sense of child-like optimism. The structure combines a sculptural base with modular “branches” that users can rearrange, allowing each cat tree to evolve based on personality, activity level, and home layout. This flexibility means the product grows with both the pet and the owner, rather than becoming disposable.

My design philosophy blends emotional connection with functionality. I believe pets are not separate from the way we live — they shape our spaces, daily rhythms, and even our moods. The rounded shapes and color palette create warmth and playfulness, making the piece feel like a friendly presence in the room. At the same time, every element is guided by behavior-led design: stability, flexibility, and comfortable perching all come first.


As both a designer and a cat lover, I see this project as a reflection of shared living. It recognizes cats as companions with their own needs and personalities, and acknowledges that people increasingly want homes that feel expressive, cozy, and emotionally alive. Shed or tree suggests that pet furniture can be joyful, intentional, and human-centered — without ever forgetting who it is truly designed for.
