Origami, the Japanese art of paper folding is an ancient art form that fascinatingly converts planes i.e. paper into 3d objects. Based on this principle, the Ori Chair derives its concept. As the name suggests, the Ori Chair is the translation of paper folding into metal folding and ultimately a unique piece of furniture.

Folding metal comes with its own set of challenges in order to achieve ergonometric and comfortable seating. The idea behind the chair using origami sensibilities was to ease the packaging and delivery. The Ori Chair can be easily folded up and into a small box and then assembled in-situ, considerably reducing the volume of the package. It uses simple mechanisms to attach into one piece giving it a crisp minimalist finish.

Aesthetics become absolute necessity when it comes to furniture, since furniture today extends beyond its primary function of providing seating to being an element of art within a space. What better aesthetic inspiration than nature itself! The Ori Chair uses the color combinations of a Sunflower to match with the form that appears to be a blooming flower. Bright yellow expresses a bold presence of the chair as an art piece. The trend of earthen finishes and materials being largely used in architecture, interior and landscape design. The Sunflower colors blended with the flair of minimalistic design, accentuates the holistic appearance of confined interiors or an outdoor space.

The sturdy but thin metal used in the chair is galvanized to take on the harsh outdoors while visually being as light as paper. Metal is a material that can be used as a cradle to cradle product in order to support and propagate sustainable development. Timber is used as the moderating material to provide comfort of seating as opposed to the harshness of the metal. The use of wood is restricted only to crucial parts including the seating and backrest of the chair.

The chair is designed to accommodate variations in finishes. Same design can be executed in metals like copper and brass adding an element of luxury and affluence.
