This product draws inspiration from the Custom House on the Bund, whose chime stands as a symbol of Shanghai’s dialogue with the world and a cherished urban memory for generations of Shanghainese. Morning in Shanghai is a monumental contemporary novel in Chinese literature, chronicling the city’s transformation from 1949 to 1955. It concludes in the hopeful year of 1955 — the same year Shanghai Watch was founded.
The dial design takes its cue from the façade of the Custom House, extending across the entire Bund and embracing the Huangpu River and its passing vessels. Through techniques such as gold micro-carving and mosaic craftsmanship, the beauty of the city and the imprints of history converge within this timepiece, expressed through exquisite artistry and refined aesthetics.
