LIV Golf Riyadh 2026

Behind The Volt transformed LIV Golf Riyadh 2026 into a world-first night golf spectacle, reimagining a 1km² championship course as a fully immersive entertainment landscape.
The design vision was to treat the entire venue as a single lighting canvas, where architectural lighting, precision beam technology, laser, projection, LED surfaces and water effects combined to create a cohesive scenographic identity. Rather than simply illuminating play, the objective was to design an environment that enhanced the spectator journey, elevated the broadcast image and allowed moments of spectacle without compromising elite competition.
From arrival, spectators were immersed in light. A signature installation, “The Line,” guided fans through a tunnel of choreographed illumination, establishing the visual language of the event before they reached the course. Across the venue, carefully positioned aerial beams framed the Saudi Arabian flag in kinetic light, while precise shafts of colour traced tee boxes and the driving range, creating visual depth while maintaining clear sightlines for players and cameras.
Each of 1,300+ lighting fixtures was designed to operate both independently and as part of a larger composition. Throughout the event, fan village activations blended anamorphic LED screen content with surrounding lighting architecture, creating immersive moments that extended the experience beyond the fairways.
The defining moment was the tournament’s ‘shotgun start’: a fully choreographed laser, light and water spectacular, timecoded to music and video. We synchronised beams, projection-mapped water screens, fountains and digital surfaces into a single immersive composition before seamlessly transitioning into broadcast-ready competition lighting. The course instantly shifted from theatrical spectacle to pristine sporting stage, delivering a powerful visual identity for every televised shot.
Behind the scenes, a site-wide fibre and wireless network enabled millisecond-accurate control across lighting and media systems. Detailed sightline modelling, aviation coordination and rigorous health and safety planning ensured flawless operation across the vast site.
Broadcast and media commentary highlighted the lighting design as a defining feature of the event’s night-time identity. Visible even to aircraft approaching Riyadh, the event created a striking new visual identity for night golf, demonstrating how thoughtful lighting design can elevate sport into unforgettable spectacle.
