Inspired by Asian elegance, Tsui Hang Village has been established for over 40 years presenting traditional yet contemporary Chinese and Cantonese cuisine in Hong Kong. As one of the traditional food to enjoy during festival, rice dumplings are always a popular festive product for people to celebrate and indulge. To target the younger generation and make a breakthrough towards public’s impression to rice dumplings’ old fashioned style, the new design of rice dumpling packaging this year adopted a “East meets West” approach executed in a modern and ingenious way. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s bold pop art style, the new design imitates his iconic silk-screening style with classic rice dumpling image. The repetition of the dumpling image on colourful background is magnified into a theme of variance. The graphic is contrived on an unconventional 8-face diamond cut structure, presenting the product as a lively yet decent gift to share with loved ones.
By incorporating 3D image of bamboo steamer with 2D graphic, it elevates the visual dimensions of the design. On top, the new packaging box is plastic free and made with FSC-certified paper, to accommodate the growing trend of sustainability. Bundled with cotton handles, it can minimize the use of extra bag to carry the rice dumplings and enhance the conveniences for customers. From graphic design, box shape to printing, this design reinterprets rice dumplings in a stylish way, and uplift the brand’s style to showcase its diversity.
