The project locates within the Pudong New District, Shanghai, as the area will become the new homeland of innovative Research & Commercial activities.

The Waterfront Cradle concepts divide the massive office tower and apartment building into a new multi-layer society, as well as the overhead pedestrian path isolates the site into two distinct sectors according to their functions.

The main office building sits at north sector, has great accessibility through the designated pedestrian path, and the podium on its way. The podium function as theatre also features multiple set-back roof areas thus create green, mutual shared spaces for the massive tower. And, as these platforms ascends, the places become more and more private.

The apartment building at south sector also uses set-back to minimize the impact itself to the surrounding environment. The tower made of “multiple retreated platforms” descend gradually to waterfront forms a welcoming plaza to all the participants came to site.

In addition, the waterfront landscapes offers variety functions of the city, includes holiday celebration, exhibition, shopping event and even city beach.

Overall, the whole project seeks the interactions between different functions instead of acts independent themselves, emphasis the sustainability in the modern city environment, which made it become a walkable, multilayers mix-used project -- a welcoming destination of Shanghai city.
